Chamomile as herbal sleep aid

As one of the natures oldest and gentlest herbal sleep aid, chamomile is most often drink as a tea which has a mild and pleasant taste. Chamomile promotes calmness and restfulness and is also used in cases of stomach irritation.

The daily benefits of chamomile works when taken occasionally and is mild enough that is can be used daily for extended periods of time. It has no side effects and doesn't cause dependency. But it may be allergen to those people that are allergic to daisies.

Experts are not yet sure yet sure how chamomile works to stimulate sleep but a report show that the apigenin, a flavonoid in chamomile, may help to promote sleep.
